Things to Take Note of:

The use of Check/Choke chains is NOT permitted at our classes.

Collars should be of the flat or rolled, fabric webbing or leather type. Choose an ordinary collar with a buckle or easy clip closure, or a half-check collar. If you are unsure of the type of collar required then please do get in touch.

It is not worth buying an expensive collar for your puppy – he will quickly grow out of it. Save splashing out on a good collar until he has finished growing. In the meanwhile cheaper collars will do provided they are the correct fit and are strong enough.

Class Fees:

Fees are £42.00 for the six-week Learners Course,  payable at the beginning of each course. The later classes are run on a ‘pay on the night’ basis at a cost of £7.00 per class. However, you may pay for the whole six weeks at the start of each 6-week period if you wish.

Membership is also available which offers considerable savings on a week by week basis.

Coming to Class:

Please come wearing comfortable clothing, especially shoes.

Bring food treats and/or a favourite toy - please make the latter a small one
  - something that can be tucked into a pocket or bag when not required
- giant teddies can be very distracting to other class members!

Please ensure your dog is wearing an appropriate collar and lead.

Please exercise your dog before you come and try to ensure he empties himself. Don’t forget your poo-bags!

Please do not bring your dog to class if unwell or in season. If such is the case, please come along yourself so you can watch the class and therefore be able to practice the exercises at home.

Smoking is not allowed.

On the first week, please come a little early bringing with you your dog’s current vaccination certificate.

Please try to let us know if you are unable to make it to a class, we worry about you if you are not there!

Children and spectators coming to class:

At MGB Training we encourage spectators i.e. husbands, wives, partners to come to class so that all members of the family can be involved in their dog’s education. We particularly encourage children and young people to come to class. After all, they are the dog owners of the future and it is important that they learn about responsible dog ownership at an early age.

We do ask, however, that all spectators sit quietly in the chairs provided at one side of the hall where they can see and hear all that is going on. That way they will not be a distraction to the dog or the person handling the dog. This also includes children and young people. It must be stressed that children should be old enough to cope with the environment i.e. that they are able to sit quietly with spectators in order to watch and listen to what is going on. Alternatively, if they are going to handle the puppy or dog, that they are old enough and capable of doing so. Very young children may not be able to cope with the environment and might be better off at home with a responsible adult.

It cannot be stressed strongly enough that the classes are for your dog. This is their time and all the attention should be solely given to them and their needs. Whoever is handling the dog must be able to provide this.

We want the classes to be enjoyable for all the family so do please contact Madeleine if you have any queries at all.
